Dudley’s cinematography is to praise for the shots of Nepal, which show you not just the beauty of the place but the narrow lanes and nowhere lands too. All the while, the daily life of Kathmandu is captured well on film. You are made to feel the race against time and the sense of impending doom. The cat-and-mouse chase kicks in and you begin enjoying the film. It is only after the intermission that Luka Chuppi finally gets into the game. The actors put in visible effort to lift the film off its feet. You feel disconnected even though there’s something happening on screen. The story hardly moves in the first half. The film needed to have been knit a lot better. But Luka Chuppi suffers from a sluggish pace, which is quite detrimental for a film of this genre.
